Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Earle Theater Ticket Stub.

The Earle Theater opened on 15 December 1927 at 20 North 8th Street. It was notable as the first cinema in Allentown equipped to project films with a synchronized sound track on the film. Earlier systems relied on a separate record to be played accompanying silent films.

The Earl was closed in 1961 after it was purchased by Allentown Park & Shop. It was subsequently torn down and became a downtown parking lot. Today remains a parking lot owned by the Allentown Parking Authority.
