These small 4 cylinder Fords were built in this style from 1937-59, they replaced the Ford Eight (8 hp) and Ford Ten (10hp). Mainly built in the UK, but from 1939, in Australia as well. Many different models were built over the years, from 1938, generally the Anglia was the 2 door and the Prefect was the 4 door; 1938-49 UK built E93A Prefect, E04A Anglia. 1939-45 Oz built E03A Prefect, the roadster was the E94A 1946-48 Oz built A53A Prefect, A54A Anglia. 1949-53 UK built E493A Prefect, E494A Anglia 1949-53 Oz built A493A Prefect, A494A Anglia. 1953-59 UK and Oz built 103E Popular The E04A was the first to be named the Anglia, a facelifted version of the 7Y, they were a cheap car, most painted black. They were available in standard or deluxe, the deluxe with better instrumentation and running boards. The E04A was also built in Australia from 1940 to 1945 and was produced in tourer and roadster body styles. The former had a rear seat and the latter was a two-seater convertible Engine; 8hp 933cc 4 cyl sidevalve (some exported cars got the 10hp 1172cc) |
