| Description |
Due to WWII no Fords automobiles were produced during 1943, 1944 and 1945. Henry Ford quickly geared up The Ford Motor Company to war production and produced a variety of military vehicles including Jeeps and bombers. Civilian production resumed in July 1945. The 1945/46 Ford was identical to the 1942 model under the skin, though it got a new grille with horizontal bars and red accents. The 6 cyl was the Model 6GA and the V8, the Model 69A. The Special was no longer available, leaving the base Deluxe and the upmarket Super Deluxe. The Deluxe had the drab brown interior and was available in Tudor, Sedan and Coupe. (2 and 4 door Sedan and 2 door Coupe) The Super Deluxe, had an upmarket navy blue and grey interior better appointed with a clock and courtesy lights, there was also more chrome trim on the outside (2 and 4 door Sedan, 2 door Coupe, Convertible and Wagon) The Super Deluxe Sportsman Convertible got the wood panelling like the Wagon and leather seats. The 1941-48 Ford was also produced in Australia in V8 Sedan and unique to Australia, the Coupe Utility. Engines; 226 cu in l head 6 cyl or 221 and 239 Flathead V8s |
