| Description |
The Federal Motor Truck Company was an American truck manufacturer headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, operating from 1910-59. Demand for plain looking Federal trucks bottomed out in 1932 while their main competitor Diamond T was doing brisk business selling smart looking trucks, despite the Great Depression. As Federal hovered near bankruptcy, they wisely invested in streamline styling for the coming year. Federal enjoyed a long and a continuing association with the U.S. Army for the supply of military and type vehicles during the Second World War. They received Army-Navy Production Awards for Excellence. During 1944-45 Federal was allowed to make ten models for essential civilian use while continuing war production.
