Description

Olds Motor Vehicle Co. was founded by Ransom E. Olds in 1897. In 1908 absorbed by General Motors, phased out in 2004. In the 1930s, Oldsmobile sat in the middle of GM’s lineup, less expensive than Buick or Cadillac, but ahead of Pontiac and Chevrolet. 1940 saw a better looking updated grille, Series got names, the 80 was dropped and replaced by the longer GM-C body Series 90. The Series 60 Special, 116 inch wheelbase, 95hp 230 cu in 6 cyl, available in 2 door Sedan, Business Coupe, Club Coupe, Convertible, 4 door Sedan and Wagon The Series 70 Dynamic, 120 inch wheelbase, 95hp 230 cu in 6 cyl, available in 2 door Sedan, Business Coupe, Club Coupe, Convertible and 4 door Sedan. The Series 90 Custom Cruiser, 124 inch wheelbase, 110hp 257 cu in 8 cyl, available in 2 door Coupe, Convertible and 4 door Sedan.

The Oldsmobile was also imported into Australia from 1901-23. From 1923-48, General Motors Holden, built their own bodies on fully imported chassis' from the US with front sheet-metal attached. Tourers of 1934 & 35 along with Sloper coupes which ran from 1935 thru 1940 are two of the models unique to Australia, never seen in the US, door handles are in line with the side trim on the Australian built car, with the American built car the door handles are below that side trim
