Description

General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant, who at the time was the General Manager of Buick (formed in 1899) In 1911, Durant formed a partnership with Belgian-born race-car driver, Louis Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Motor Company was born. For 1940, styling was updated, the headlights slowly moving into the fenders and the grille is flattening out. Available this year in three models; The base; KB Master 85 (I Beam front axle); 2 door Business Coupe and Town Sedan, 4 door Sport Sedan and Wagon Mid spec was the KH Master Deluxe (independent front suspension); 2 door Business Sedan, Coupe and Town Sedan, 4 door Sport Sedan The top model, the KA Special Deluxe (Stainless Steel beltline and hood moulds); 2 door Business Coupe (2 seats), Coupe, Cabriolet and Town Sedan, 4 door Sport Sedan and Wagon. Chevrolets were also produced in Australia by General Motors using modified American bodies from 1926-68. In 1940, the Standard Sedan, Standard Sports Coupe, Master Sedan, Master Sloper Coupe, Cabriolet and Coupe Utility were sold there.
