Summary

[edit]
Description
English: 1940 postcard photo of the Tilghman Street Viaduct looking Southwest. The roof of the Neuweiler Brewery on Front Street is visible in the background, about midway over the bridge. The Tilghman Street Viaduct was the first bridge in Allentown built exclusively for motor vehicle traffic. When it opened in 1929, it opened up access to the East part of Allentown. The bridge connected Tilghman Street on the west side of the Lehigh River to Union Boulevard on the west side of the river which was opened in 1912 in East Allentown.
