Description

General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant, who at the time was the General Manager of Buick (formed in 1899) In 1911, Durant formed a partnership with Belgian-born race-car driver, Louis Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Motor Company was born. In 1929 the 6 cyl Stovebolt Six was introduced, replacing the old 4. From 1937, the pickups got the same front sheet metal as the sedans. The 1938 models got minor styling changes to the grille, hood sides and front bumper. The 1938 bumper was wider with a recess running down its center and it was tapered on the ends. Trucks for 1938 were; The HB 1/2 ton Pickup and Delivery The HC 1/2 ton Express, Panel, Pickup and Suburban The HD 3/4 ton Panel, Pickup and Stakebed The HE 1 ton Panel, Pickup and Stakebed.
