Summary

[edit]
Description

Wolseley Motors was founded in 1901. Bought out by Morris Motors in 1927. Morris Motors merged with the Austin Motor Company in 1952 to form BMC (British Motor Corporation), they sold Morris, Austin, Wolseley, Riley and MG cars. The Series II Wolseley was introduced in 1935 with the Super Six 16hp, 21hp and 25hp models. In 1936, the 10/40, 12/48 and 14/56 models followed; the final Series II model was the 18/80 (1937). The 14/56 became one of the most popular models to be produced with approximately 15,000 during the short life of the Series II. Unlike the Morris equivalent at the time, the Wolseley 14/56 featured overhead valve engine and four-speed gearbox, along with ‘Easiclean’ steel-pressed wheels

The Series III Wolseley was introduced in 1937, the 12/48 and the Super Six in 16, 21 and 25hp forms.. The noticeable difference for the Series III is the bonnet louvres now consisting of many small vertical louvres enclosed by three long horizontal strips rather than the four long horizontal louvres of the Series II.
