The 1935/36 Model 48 replaced the 40A with a lower body, the engine and grille were pushed forward giving more room in the cabin. The four cyl no longer available, all Ford cars were powered by the Flathead V8. There were still many body styles available; Flatback or Trunkback Sedans, Tudor, 3 or 5 window Coupes, Roadster, Phaeton and Woody Wagon. (no Victoria body now). The Model 48 got a facelift in 1936 with the hood now coming over the grille which now had just vertical bars, it was available in Standard or Deluxe. (Deluxe had Chrome bars in the grille) also new for 1936 were the use of pressed steel artillery solid wheels instead of wire wheels. The 36 Ford was not only built in the US but also in other countries including Australia. 1934 was the year the worlds first coupe utility was available, designed and built in Australia based on the Ford Model 40A, available again in the Model 48.Engine; 85hp 221 cu in flathead V8 |
