| Description |
General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant, who at the time was the General Manager of Buick (formed in 1899) In 1911, Durant formed a partnership with Belgian-born race-car driver, Louis Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Motor Company was born. In 1929 the 6 cyl Stovebolt Six was introduced, replacing the old 4 cyl. From 1933, two models were available on different wheelbases, the Standard and the Master. For 1935, radiator caps moved beneath the hood. The ED Standard Six retained fabric inserts in their roof, doors were still hinged at the front and the front windshield was still one pane of glass. Available in 2 door Coach, Coupe and Roadster and 4 door Sedan and Phaeton. The EA Master DeLuxe grew another inch in wheelbase, they got new all-steel 'Turret-Top' construction, suicide (rear-hinged) doors and a two-piece vee'd windshield. Available in 2 door Coach, Coupe and Roadster, 4 door Sedan and Sport Sedan (trunk). Chevrolets were also produced in Australia by General Motors using modified American bodies from 1926-68.
