Summary

[edit]
Description
English: 1935 - Trexler Lumber Company - Matchcover 16th & Gordon Streets Allentown PA Trexler Lumber Company was started in 1856 by Edwin and Jonas Trexler in the 900 block of Hamilton and Walnut Street. In 1900, the lumber yard was moved to the west end, taking up two blocks between Gordon and Allen, and 16th and 17th streets. It was one of the largest lumber yards in the United States. Later owned by Harry Trexler, it stayed in the family until 1973 when it burned down in one of the largest fires in the City's history. Today it is a combination of a parking lot and a multi-story condominium, medical offices, a supermarket and a shopping center.
