Description
English: OGPU-directors responsible for construction of the White Sea - Baltic Canal, deputy head of GuLag Semyon Firin and head of GuLag from June 1932 to June 1937 Matvei Berman during planning work of the canal. In the background a Map of the shoreline of Lake Onega is visible. At the upper right a photo of Lazar Kogan, dating from 1935, head of GuLag from June 1930 to June 1932 has been inserted.
