| Description |
General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant, who at the time was the General Manager of Buick (formed in 1899) In 1911, Durant formed a partnership with Belgian-born race-car driver, Louis Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Motor Company was born. In 1927, the Chevrolet Superior was updated to the Series AA Capitol. (the same year Ford moved on to the Model A) The body was much the same, but the Capitol did get a new radiator shell, fully crowned fenders, and bullet-style headlights. The 1928 AB National got a longer wheelbase with a longer hood, ready for the new 6 cylinder which was introduced later in 1928. The 1929 AC International got freshened a new grille, revised body side moldings and a smaller diameter wheels with fatter tires. Now six cylinder. Eight body styles were available; Convertible, Coupe, 4 door Sedan, Cabriolet, Coach, Landau, Roadster and Phaeton Chevrolets were also produced in Australia by General Motors using modified American bodies from 1926-68.
