Summary

[edit]
Description

The Silver Ghost was produced for many years, lasting until 1922. In 1925 the New Phantom was introduced and it was given an improved chassis and improved pushrod OHV engine. The 1925-31 Phantom I was built in the UK and the US. Only the chassis and mechanical parts were produced by Rolls-Royce. The body was made and fitted by a coachbuilder selected by the owner. Coachbuilders who produced bodies for New Phantom cars included Barker, Park Ward, Thrupp & Maberly, Mulliner, Hooper and the Italian coachbuilder Zagato. American Phantoms could be bought with standardized bodies from Brewster & Co., which was owned by Rolls-Royce. This car, with Thrupp and Maberley enclosed Limousine coachwork, was used as a Taxi in Arthurs Pass, New Zealand, transporting skiers, expectant mothers etc. Engine; 7668cc 6 cylinder. 3512 produced
