| Description |
The Chrysler Corporation was founded by Walter Chrysler in 1925, out of what remained of the Maxwell Motor Company. In 1928, Chrysler expanded, he established Plymouth and DeSoto brands and also acquired Fargo Trucks and Dodge Brothers Motors and started selling vehicles under those names. From 1926-30, four models were available, the 50, 60, 70 Series and the 80 Imperial.(the Series referring to the speed they could do). 1926 Engines were; the 38hp 185 cu in 4 cyl Series S-50, the 54hp 180 cu in 6 cyl Series S-60, the 68hp 218 cu in 6 cyl Series G-70 and the 92hp 288 cu in 6 cyl Imperial E-80 A few of the new engineering features of the 1926 Chrysler were hydraulic brakes, aluminium pistons, rubber engine mountings, rubber spring shackles and adjustable front seats. A 1926 Chrysler Imperial was chosen as the pace car for the 1926 Indianapolis 500 1929 saw a styling change, radiators were more slender and taller, fenders were more sweeping and longer |
