Description
English: In 1906 locomotive manufacturers, Beyer, Peacock & Co. of Manchester built a single 40 HP steam lorry for its own use. The designer was Henry Albert Hoy (1855-1910). The vehicle is described in The Engineer, Vol. 101, p. 216-217. Hoy built a first steam lorry in 1901, and made a few more for Beyer, Peacock in 1903-1904 which were abandoned due to the success of the main Business, rail vehicles.
