中文：张之洞（1837～1909）、盛宣怀（1844～1916）、缪荃孙（1844～1919）、张謇（1853～1926）等十人清末在南京合影及江南水师徽章照片（银盐纸基）一帧（带框）1904年作识文：光绪甲辰五月江宁公燕图。张謇、盛宣怀、张之洞、缪荃孙、魏光焘、胡埏、徐树钧、黄建莞、蒯光典、魏允恭。此摄景中之十人，俱逊清末叶有关我中夏兴废之人物，而世人徒知若辈之姓、名、字，而于若辈之身躯仪容则未之覩，故虽近世之人氏，犹纸上之古人也。甚哉，我国光书摄影业及刷印业之孤陋而卒使文明之大道蔽塞，故虽硕大疆土之中国，竟漫无精神为之主宰也。呜呼。伯伦，民国廿五年、七月、二日。著录：《缪荃孙全集 日记》二P282，凤凰出版社，2013年。参阅：《张謇日记》P528，张謇研究中心、南通市图书馆编，江苏古籍出版社，1994年。　说明：此为1904年5月，清末重臣张之洞、张謇、盛宣怀、缪荃孙、魏光焘、胡埏、徐树钧、黄建莞、蒯光典、魏允恭等十人在南京合影，为非常有历史纪念意义的旧照。照片见载于《缪荃孙日记》。时间为农历四月初五。照片中诸人姓名均详细记载其中，并且可知当日为魏光焘宴请张之洞而设的宴席。据照片中的楹联，可知拍摄地点为江安粮道署，即在时任江安粮储道胡埏（研孙）官邸内。其楹联内容为“早年即梦想江南，真个来钟阜褰帏，青溪系艇；此地是前朝邸第，多少事绿杨眼见，红烛心知”。其时，张之洞为湖广总督，魏光焘为两江总督，盛宣怀为工部左侍郎，黄建莞为江宁布政使，魏允恭为江南制造局总办，徐树钧为江南盐巡道。此番众人合影，为趁张之洞赴南京会商江南制造局移建新厂事宜的机会。照片中缪荃孙、张謇、胡埏、蒯光典均系张之洞重要幕僚。摄影后数年间，魏光焘、张之洞等先后逝世，张謇投身立宪，盛宣怀因铁路国有政策激起保路运动，客观上为武昌起义的成功创造了机会。老成逐渐凋零，清朝亦随之而亡。伯伦或为史学家雷海宗。
