English: Waterloo, Waterloo, Waterloo... Une plaine, non pas morne comme le dit un poème, mais féconde, gonflée de doux contours, avec des ruisseaux, des fermes, et à l'horizon la masse sombre de la forêt de Soignes. Ce jour de 1815, elle devait rayonner sous la lumière de juin, lourde de blés déjà mûrs, odorante et dorée.
Translation
A plain, not dull as a poem says, but fertile, swollen with soft contours, with streams, farms, and on the horizon the dark mass of the forest of Soignes. That day in 1815, it must have shone under the June light, heavy with already ripe wheat, fragrant and golden.
