English: This image of the Old Main Building was taken in 1883. It was located on South College Street, where the present day Samford Hall stands. It was the original building of the East Alabama Male College (now Auburn University). It was originally used for classrooms and the library. It served as a Confederate Hospital from 1864-1866 during the Civil War. The building burned in 1887 and was replaced by the current Samford Hall.[1] |
