Description
English: In 1883 there was a serious theft of 1882 postage stamps in Cuba resulting in the overprinting of the remaining stamps and demonetization of non-overprinted stamps to prevent the thief from capitalizing on his loot. Depicted here are two of the five overprint types called arañas (spiders) because of the intricate webs. Four of the five designs have the denomination repeated in the overprint.
