Description |
English: Paul was born to the artist and his future wife, Marie-Hortense Fiquet, in 1872. Around 1880, Cézanne rapidly executed several portraits of his son. This one seems especially spontaneous. Although the young boy may have been too lively to sit still long enough for a formal portrait, his father attempted to capture his appearance and personality at an age of increasing independence.
