Die Aufnahme eines nicht genannten Fotografen zeigt insbesondere im Vordergrund links die an das Alte Rathaus angrenzenden Häuser vor deren Abbruch zugunsten des Durchbruchs der - damaligen - Grupenstraße, die erst nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg als Verlängerung der Karmarschstraße ebenfalls nach dem Direktor der späteren Leibniz Universität umbenannt wurde. Anstelle der an das alte Rathaus angrenzenden Gebäude errichtete der Architekt Conrad Wilhelm Hase später den südlichen Anbau im Stil der Neugotik ...
