Horses mounted with Otago pack saddles, artillery cradles and artillery components at the official inspection of the Abyssinian expedition mountain battery at Woolwich, 1867. ACG James Bailey also designed an iron cradle to carry a mountain battery gun, and its carriage. It could be attached to any one of the Otago saddles in a few minutes.
