English: Photograph albumen silver print with inscriptions as given by The J. Paul Getty Museum: "Letterpress captions affixed to back of mounts; blindstamps of Schulze and Alpers in each mount; some numbers stamped or written on mounts." Book by Theodor Schulze's Buchhandlung in Hannover, Germany. The frieze "Nordisches Heldenleben" after the Edda had been the most famous work of the German sculptor Wilhelm Engelhard. The photographer Ernst Alpers made 18 photographs of the frieze which had been installed in the University of Hanover where it has been removed after the Second World War. |
