Deutsch: Reil, Johannes Christian: Rhapsodieen über die Anwendung der psychischen Curmethode auf Geisteszerrüttungen. Halle: Curt [1803], Erstdruck.
Johann Christian Reil (1759 - 1813) war Professor der Medizin und Stadtphysikus in Halle/Saale. Verfasste zahlreiche Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet der allgemeinen Medizin. Gilt zusammen mit F. J. Gall als Begründer der naturwissenschaftlichen Psychiatrie (Lehre vom Gehirn als dem Organ der Seele; Janzarik 1974). Prägte 1808 den Begriff Psychiatrie und trat für sie ein als selbständige Disziplin neben Chirurgie und Medizin. Wandte sich gegen Missstände in der Unterbringung Geisteskranker, setzte sich für Beschäftigung der Patienten ein und für psychotherapeutische Maßnahmen. Gab zusammen mit dem Naturphilosophen Kayssler das kurzlebige „Magazin für die psychische Heilkunde“ (1805 - 1806) und mit J. C. Hoffbauer die „Beyträge zur Beförderung einer Kurmethode auf psychischem Wege“ (1808 – 1812) heraus. |
