17th century jetton reverse
Description
English: Copper alloy French style jetton, issued by Cornelius Lauffer, master 1658, died 1711. Obverse shows a young bust of the King Loius XIV (1643-1715), diademed, facing right with the legend LUD: XIIII. GD. G. FRA. ET. NAV: REX The reverse shows the crowned shield of France, with three lis. The legend reads CORNELI.LAVFFERS.RECHEN.PFENING. The jetton has a diameter of 28.48mm and weighs 3.42g. It is a variant of Mitchener 1773.
