17th century button.
Description
English: Cast copper alloy button. Domed, hollow on the underside, with integral trapezoidal cast loop. The upper surface has incised decoration of a central equal armed cross with central circle, and floriate decoration formed from circles and semi-circles in each quarter. 17th century. Diameter 23.6mm, thickness (inc loop) 11.86mm, depth of dome 6.64mm, width of loop (at end) 5.6mm (at base) 7.48mm, thickness of loop 2.16mm, weight 10.19g. Similar buttons are published in Read 1995, and said to be 17th century (p144-6, esp no.974).
