This tree is dedicated to all who served in the Squadron

Lieutenant (A) 30497 Charles Peter Rodger (Rod) STEVENS. Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve (SR). Fleet Air Arm on H.M.S. Indefatigable. Born 1922 to Lieutenant Colonel G. R. Stevens and Mrs. Stevens, of Montreal, Province of Quebec. Husband of Agnes Stevens, of Dundee. Died on air operations 28 July 1945 aged 23. Commemorated on the Halifax Memorial, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Lieutenant (A) Montgomery Harold Albert (Monty) BAKER. Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Fleet Air Arm, on HMS Ringtail. Born 1920 to Albert and May Baker, of Ottershaw, Surrey. Died in a flying accident at sea along with James Sloan 29 July 1944 aged 24. Commemorated on the Lee-on-Solents Memorial, Hampshire. Wills and Admin, Ancestry. His residence was Cranmere, Bousley Hill, Ottershaw Chertsey, Surrey. Died on date stated. His effects went to his father, retired schoolmaster.

Sub Lieutenant (A) Harry GARBUTT. Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Fleet Air Arm. On HMS Ringtail. Born 1920 to Frederick and Ethel Garbutt, of Roundhay, Leeds, Yorkshire. Died in a flying accident at near Blackpool along with Kenneth NEUSCHILD 26 June 1944 aged 24. At rest in Fleetwood Borough Cemetery, Lancashire.

Sub Lieutenant (A) Maurice Ian James GOODSELL (Memorial has Maurice GOODALL). Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Fleet Air Arm on H.M.S. Indefatigable. Born 1921 to James and Ruby White Goodsell, of Hastings. Died 24 July 1945 aged 24. Commemorated on the Lee-on-Solent Memorial, Hampshire.

Sub Lieutenant (A) 68557 Anthony Michael (Mike) La GRANGE. Royal South African Naval Volunteer Reserve with South African Naval Forces, attached to Fleet Air Arm, on HMS Ruler. (Fleet Air Arm web site lists HMS Indefatigable). Son of Mrs. I. B. La Grange, of Albertinia, Cape Province, South Africa. Died 28 July 1945. Commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial, Devon.

Sub Lieutenant (A) Thomas Chalmers Glen McBRIDE. Royal New Zealand Volunteer Reserve. Fleet Air Arm on HMS Indefatigable. Born 1918 to Peter McLellan and Rachel Margaret McBride, of Wellington City. Husband of Linda Ivy McBride, of Wadestown, Wellington City. Died 10 August 1945 aged 27. Commemorated on the New Zealand Naval Memorial, Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand.

Midshipman (A) Kenneth Robert Osborn NEUSCHILD Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Fleet Air Arm, on HMS Ringtail. Born 1925 to Robert Hermann Alexander and Elsie Gertrude Neuschild, nee Osborn of Enfield, Middlesex. Killed in a flying accident near Blackpool with Harry Garbutt, 26 June 1944 aged 19. At rest in Fleetwood Borough Cemetery, Lancashire.

Sub Lieutenant (A) Glyn Desmond ROBERTS DSC and Bar. Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Fleet Air Arm on HMS Indefatigable. Born 1922 in the registration district of Wrexham to John Garfield and Edith Roberts, nee Shone. Died 10 August 1945. Commemorated on the Lee-on-Solent Memorial, Hampshire. Supplement to the London Gazette 21 August 1945. Awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.


Lieutenant (A) James (Jim) Gladstone Campbell SLOAN Royal Navy. Fleet Air Arm on HMS Ringtail. Born 1920 to John Sloan and Sarah Sloan, nee Cairnduff. Husband of Nena Moir Sloan, of Muirend, Glasgow. Died in a flying accident along with Montgomery Baker. 29 July 1944 aged 24. At rest in Dunlop Cemetery, Ayrshire.
