Summary

[edit]
Description

Looking downstream where the spillway drops into a stepped chute - think: staircase - where water released from Folsom Lake will then flow through a stilling basin with giant baffle blocks. This section is designed to reduce the high velocity flow of water before it safely feeds into the American River below.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District continues with the final phase of construction on the Folsom Dam Auxiliary Spillway project January 11, 2017. The project in Folsom, Calif. is scheduled for completion in October 2017.
