English: A copper-alloy tubular dress hook of probable 16th century AD date. The object is made of three joined elements. The body of the object has a vertical hollow of oval section. It is five sided, with a flat underside and four vertical panels of equal width on the display side. These panels are separated by raised vertical ribs and are decorated with an alternating pattern of plain and cross hatched triangles. The two vertical outer edges are scalloped. The reverse is flat and plain apart from a rectangular hole located towards the top. The hook is attached at the bottom. It is sub-oval in section, backwards facing, and incomplete. A decorative plate is attached to the upper junction between the hook and the body of the object. Overall, it measures 25.1mm high by 16.9mm wide and 9.2mm deep. It weighs 9.74g. |
