Title
16th-17th century sword belt fitting.
Description
English: A copper alloy hooked sword belt fitting (16th-17th century). The sword belt fitting is shaped and decorated in a foliate style. The fitting has two rounded projections at the top (hooked end), two more (one on each side) just below midway down, then three at the base. The front surface is decorated with curved lines radiating from a central line - to resemble a leaf. At the top of the fitting there is the hook for suspension, the hook has a globular end. The suspension loop has broken from the corresponding fitting and is still attached to the hook. There are fragments of two iron rivets present arranged one above the other down the midline of the fitting. Rough mid green matt patina. Dimensions: length: 55.16mm; width: 21.08mm; thickness: 12.90mm; weight: 13.14g.
