1674 Lithic implements.jpg
Description
English: Lithic implements

1) 7 Blades average size length 24mm, width 11mm, thickness 4mm. Three have one arise the other four have two arises on the dorsal, soft hammered bulb on the ventral. Three have a creamy patina, that others are grey flints with a speckled patina. These objects dates to the Late Mesolithic.

2) 4 Notched pieces average size length 24mm, width 12mm, thickness 5mm. Two are notches on blades, the other two are notches on flakes. 2a are notched flakes both are brown flints with patinas starting to form. These date to the Late Neolithic-Bronze Age. 2b are notches on blades, both have one arise on the dorsal, one has a creamy patina, the other is a grey flint with patina forming. These date to the Late Mesolithic-Early Neolithic. All have direct, semi-abrupt retouch that creates a small concave notch.

3) 4 Truncated blades average size length 18mm, width 10mm, thickness 3mm. All have one arise on the dorsal, soft hammered bulb on the ventral, only the proximal end remains, this is an old break. All have a light creamy-grey patina. These objects date to the Late Mesolithic.

4) 5 Scrapers average size length 21mm, width 30mm, thickness 10mm. One is an end scraper, two semi-circular scrapers, one side scraper and one thumbnail scraper. All have direct, semi-abrupt, scaled retouch, on three of the artefacts this retouch has removed the patina. Two have approximately 50% cortex on the dorsal. These objects date to the Late Neolithic-Bronze Age.

5) 1 Microlith length 10mm, width 7mm, thickness 3mm. One arise on the dorsal. Creamy-grey patina. This artefact date to the Late Mesolithic.

6) 3 Knifes average size length 34mm, width 20mm, thickness 7mm. All have two arises on the dorsal, bulb of percussion on the ventral. All have low-angled, direct, shirt retouch down one side, one has been truncated. Two have a creamy patina, one with a large brownie-grey patch on one side, the other is a grey flint with a creamy patina forming. These artefacts dates to the Neolithic.

7) 4 Arrowheads average size length 20mm, width 15mm, thickness 4mm. All have multiple flaking scars covering the dorsal and ventral and all have an oval cross-section. Three of the arrowheads are leaf-shaped, these artefacts date to the Neolithic. The last is a barbed and tanged arrowhead which dates to the late Bronze Age. All are grey fling with a creamy patina.

8) 2 Rods average size length 32mm, width 11mm, thickness 6mm. Both have one arise on the dorsal with multiple flaking scars on either side, small bulb of percussion on the ventral. One has a creamy patina the other is a dark grey flint with a creamy patina forming and 30% cortex on the dorsal. These artefacts dates to the Neolithic.

9) 1 Awl length 36mm, width 32mm, thickness 9mm. Multiple flaking scars on the dorsal, bulb of percussion on the ventral. The forward edge has been knapped into a point using low-angled, short, scaled, direct retouch which forms a rounded point. Light creamy-grey patina. This artefact dates to the Neolithic-Bronze Age.

10) 3 Miscellaneous retouch average size length 21mm, width 18mm, thickness 4mm. 2 have 20% cortex on the dorsal, bulb of percussion on the ventral. All have short, low angled flaking scars along one edge. One has a creamy patina, the other is a grey flint with a creamy patina and the last is a grey flint with a creamy patina just forming. All probably date to the Neolithic-Bronze Age

11) 2 Burins one is length 16mm, width 12mm, thickness 3mm, the other is length 32mm, width 28mm, thickness 7mm. The smaller example is a blade with direct retouch down one side, dark grey flint with a patina forming, this artefact dates to the Late Mesolithic-Early Neolithic. The larger example is a flake this has multiple flaking scars on the dorsal and direct retouch on one side and a creamy patina. This artefact dates to the Bronze age

12) Core rejuvenation flake length 20mm, width 23mm, thickness 15mm. Multiple flaking scars cover the dorsal, these are long thin and run in one direction, prepared striking platform at the top. Creamy patina with grey patches. This artefact dates to the Late Mesolithic-Neolithic.

13) 3 Cores average size length 37mm, width 33mm, thickness 27mm. Multiple flaking scars that are taken from a number of directions cover the whole artefact. All have a light creamy-grey patina. These may date from the Late Mesolithic but are most likely Neolithic.

10) 28 fragments of debitage. (not photographed) 1 Primary flake, length 34mm width 21mm, thickness 8mm. Creamy patina, this has more than 50% cortex remaining. Date prehistoric. This is a waste flakes from the manufacturing process. 6 Secondary flakes. average size length 28mm width 21mm, thickness 4mm. Most have a light grey patina, two have a creamy patina, all have less then 50% cortex remaining. Date Prehistoric. These are waste flakes from the manufacturing process.

21 Tertiary flakes, average size length 27mm, width 22mm, thickness 6mm. Most have a creamy patina. Date prehistoric. These are waste flakes from the manufacturing process.
