Title
1673 Lithic implements.JPG
Description
English: Lithic implements

1) Six microlithis, average size length 14mm, width 9mm, thickness 4mm. All have one arise on the dorsal, most do not have a bulb of percussion on the ventral, three have been retouched. Most have a creamy patina, one is brown with a grey patina forming. These artefacts date to the Late Mesolithic.

2) Leaf-shaped arrowhead length 28mm, width 13mm, thickness 5mm. Flaking scars covers both the ventral and dorsal, oval cross-section. Light creamy patina with grey patches. This object dates to the Neolithic.

3) End scraper length 27mm, width 33mm, thickness 9mm. Flat dorsal and ventral. The forward edge has retouch which is direct, semi-abrupt, scaled flaking scars. Light brownish grey flint. This artefact dates to the Early Bronze Age.

4) End scraper length 27mm, width 33mm, thickness 9mm. No bulb on the ventral, 70% cortex on the dorsal. The forward edge has retouch which is direct, semi-abrupt, scaled flaking scars, that forms a semicircular edge. Light grey patina, the retouch had removed the patina exposing dark grey flint, a patina has started to form over this area. This artefact is probably a waste flake that was reused in the Bronze Age.

5) Circular scraper length 28mm, width 25mm, thickness 8mm. Multiple flaking scars cover the dorsal ad ventral, 5% cortex on the dorsal. Very rough semi-abrupt, direct flaking scars around the edge. Light grey patina with white patches. Date Bronze Age.

6) Side scraper length 26mm, width 29mm, thickness 5mm. Multiple flaking scars on the dorsal, no bulb of percussion on the ventral. There is scaled, abrupt, flaking scars on the left edge. Light grey-creamy patina. This artefact dates to the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age.

7) Thumbnail scraper length 20mm, width 20mm, thickness 7mm. Multiple flaking scars on the dorsal, soft hammered bulb on the ventral. Semi-abrupt, scaled, direct flaking scars run around the front and both sides creating a curved edge on three sides. Grey patina with lighter patches. This artefact dates to the Neolithic.

8) Scraper length 26mm, width 22mm, thickness 8mm. Multiple flaking scars on the dorsal, no bulb of percussion on the ventral. There is scaled, abrupt, flaking scars along one edge. Light creamy patina. This artefact probably dates to the Neolithic.

9) Notched piece length 33mm, width 25mm, thickness 8mm. Multiple long thing linear flaking scars that are taken in one direction on the dorsal, large bulb on the ventral. Abrupt, direct, concave retouch on the forward edge. Light creamy/grey patina with a light brown patch, where it has been retouched this has exposed dark grey flint. This is probably a Mesolithic core rejuvenation flake the was reused in the Bronze Age.

10, 11 & 12) Miscellaneous retouch average size length 40mm, width 22mm, thickness 8mm. Multiple flaking scars on the dorsal, two have a small bulb of percussion on the ventral. All have short, low angled flaking scars. One has a creamy patina with 10% cortex down one side, one is a grey flint, that has a creamy patina forming and 10% cortex, the other is a brown flint with lighter patches. All probably date to the Bronze Age

13) Core length 32mm, width 28mm, thickness 20mm. Multiple flaking scars that are taken from a number of directions cover the whole artefact. Light grey flint with creamy patches. Date Neolithic.

14) Four core rejuvenation flake length 27mm, width 12mm, thickness 5mm. Three have two arises on the dorsal, one has one. Two have a prepared striking platform at one end. Two have a creamy patina, two are brown with a patina forming. These artefacts dates to the Mesolithic-Neolithic.

10) 36 fragments of debitage. (not photographed) 1 Primary flake, length 48mm width 44mm, thickness 25mm. Creamy patina, this has more than 50% cortex remaining. Date prehistoric. This is a waste flakes from the manufacturing process. 9 Secondary flakes. average size length 39mm width 22mm, thickness 11mm. Most have a light grey patina, two have a creamy patina, all have less then 50% cortex remaining. Date Prehistoric. These are waste flakes from the manufacturing process.

26 Tertiary flakes, average size length 39mm, width 23mm, thickness 8mm. Most have a light grey patina, four have a light brown colour. Date prehistoric. These are waste flakes from the manufacturing process.
