Description |
English: Lithic implements
1) 3 truncated blades average size length 17mm, width 10mm, thickness 3mm. One arise on the dorsal, soft hammered bulb on the ventral. On two of the examples only the distal section remains, the last is missing both of the distal and proximal ends, these are old breaks. Two have a light creamy patina, the last is a dark grey with patina forming. These objects dates to the Late Mesolithic-Early Neolithic. 2) Leaf-shaped arrowhead length 21mm, width 15mm, thickness 4mm. Multiple flaking scars covering the dorsal and ventral, oval cross-section. Mid grey patina with a brown patch, this artefact dates to the Neolithic. 3) 2 Flakes average size length 20mm, width 20mm, thickness 5mm. Multiple flaking scars on the dorsal, bulb on the ventral. Both have short, low-angled retouch on one side. One has a creamy patina with a large grey patch, the other is a grey flint with a patina forming and dark grey patches. These artefacts date to the Neolithic-Bronze Age. 4) 1 Awl length 17mm, width 13mm, thickness 4mm. Multiple flaking scars on the dorsal. The forward edge has been knapped into a point using low-angled, short, scaled, direct retouch on both sides which forms a rounded point. Light creamy-grey patina with orange patches. This artefact dates to the Neolithic. 5) 3 Miscellaneous retouch average size length 25mm, width 15mm, thickness 7mm. One has 80% cortex on the dorsal and another has 50%, bulb of percussion on the ventral. All have short, low angled flaking scars along one edge. All have a creamy patina. All probably date to the Neolithic-Bronze Age 6) 1 Notched flake length 24mm, width 12mm, thickness 5mm. Semi-abrupt retouch that creates a small concave notch on the left side light grey patina. This artefact dates to the Bronze Age. 7) 4 Scrapers average size length 23mm, width 19mm, thickness 7mm. Three end scraper, one of which is truncated, and one side scraper. All have direct, semi-abrupt, scaled retouch, on one of the artefacts this retouch has removed the patina. Two of the end scrapes date to the Neolithic and the other two are Late Neolithic-Bronze Age. 8) 3 Cores average size length 37mm, width 33mm, thickness 27mm. Multiple flaking scars that are taken from a number of directions cover the whole artefact. All have a light creamy-grey patina. These may date from the Late Mesolithic but are most likely Neolithic. 9) 23 fragments of debitage. (not photographed) 7 Secondary flakes. average size length 33mm width 17mm, thickness 7mm. All have less then 50% cortex remaining. Date Prehistoric. These are waste flakes from the manufacturing process. 16 Tertiary flakes, average size length 27mm, width 13mm, thickness 4mm. Most have a light grey patina, four have a light brown colour. Date prehistoric. These are waste flakes from the manufacturing process. |
