English: Lithic implements
1) 4 Blades average size length 29mm, width 12mm, thickness 3mm. Three have one arise on the dorsal and the last has two arises, soft hammered bulb on the ventral. Two have a creamy patina, one is a grey flints with darker speckling and one is a light brown flint with creamy patches. These objects dates to the Late Mesolithic. 2) Crested blade length 47mm, width 15mm, thickness 9mm. Multiple flaking scars on the on the dorsal which are long, thin and run the length of the piece, bulb on the ventral. Creamy patina. This artefact dates to the Late Mesolithic. 3) Adze or pick length 56mm, width 24mm, thickness 15mm. Multiple flaking scars on both the dorsal and the ventral, trapezoid cross-section. The front end has been truncated and the artefact has suffered from frost damage. Creamy patina with orange speckles. This artefact dates to the Mesolithic. 4) 2 Miscellaneous retouch largest length 45mm, width 30mm, thickness 8mm, smallest length 21mm, width 19mm, thickness 4mm. Multiple flaking scars on the dorsal, the smallest is missing the small bulb of percussion on the ventral. Both have short, low angled flaking scars. The smallest has a creamy patina, the other is a grey flint that has a creamy patina forming. Both probably date to the Bronze Age 5) Core rejuvenation flake length 50mm, width 23mm, thickness 13mm. Multiple flaking scars cover the dorsal, these are long thin and run in two directions. Light grey flint with creamy patches. This artefact dates to the Neolithic. 6) Core length 33mm, width 28mm, thickness 20mm. Multiple flaking scars that are taken from a number of directions cover the whole artefact. Light grey flint with both creamy patches and darker grey patches. Date Neolithic. 7) 6 Fire damaged flint, average size length 31mm, width 24mm, thickness 16mm. These flints have been is a very high and long sustained heat. The high heat has resulted in cracking throughout the flint leaving the artefacts with a marble looking surface. It has also left these flints vulnerable to the elements and has meant that many of these have been truncated buy frost damage. These artefacts date from the Palaeolithic through to the Late Iron Age. 8) 25 fragments of debitage. (not photographed) 5 Secondary flakes. average size length 33mm width 17mm, thickness 6mm. Most have a light grey patina, two have a creamy patina, all have less then 50% cortex remaining. Date Prehistoric. These are waste flakes from the manufacturing process. 20 Tertiary flakes, average size length 42mm, width 24mm, thickness 12mm. Most have a light grey patina, four have a light brown colour. Date prehistoric. These are waste flakes from the manufacturing process. |
