1630 Early Medieval buckle with integral plate.JPG |
||
Description |
English: Cast copper alloy buckle with integral plate length 25mm, width 17mm, thickness 5mm, weight 3.61g. The plate and loop are formed as a single rigid casting. The buckle is oval 9mm long 17mm wide, but otherwise plain. The junction between the buckle and the plate is narrowed at the sides, from the centre of which protrudes an oval lug, directly after this is semicircular lug that contains an oval pellet. The plate is trapezoid in plan and narrows towards the end, this has a V-shaped notch at the terminal that run the length this edge. In the centre of the plate is a triangular hole which point towards the buckle.
There are four perforated lugs on the reverse, the ends these lugs are very worn. This buckle dates to the late 6th-7th century. |
