| Description |
English: Nová Bystřice marks the terminus of the 760mm gauge 33km long branch from Jindřichův Hradec. Opened in 1897, operation was handed over to the Czechoslovakian State Railways (ČSD) then on break up to the Czech Railways. However in 1997 the first private operator based in the Czech Republic was formed - Jindřichohradecké místní dráhy (JHMD). The new company took charge of operations and the infrastructure of both this line and from Jindřichův Hradec to Obrataň.
The branch to Nová Bystřice sees a basic one train a day service all year round, but during weekends and the summer season the service is supplemented with additional trains both diesel and steam hauled. On 16 May 2014 being a Friday, the service was just one departure as seen here. Train Os257, 16:36 Nová Bystřice to Jindřichův Hradec being diesel hauled with loco T47.018. This is the original number dating back to when first built for ČSD back in the mid-1950s. |
