Description

2013 Czech Republic Trip Day Six

Rail privatisation is creeping into the Czech Republic where some branches have been taken over from ČD. The branch line from Milotice nad Opavou to Vrbno pod Pradědem was one of the first being acquired by OKDD, later to become Advance World Transport (AWT). Since the branch is isolated, single railcars are leased off ČD who carry out maintenance at their Krnov depot. However a fuelling point is provided here at Vrbno pod Pradědem.

On 16 May 2013, railcar no. 810.192 is seen in between workings, its next turn of duty being train Os13507, 08:46 Vrbno pod Pradědem to Milotice nad Opavou.

Unusually I had problems with the train crew at this location. Despite taking several photographs near the fuelling point where they didn't seem to mind, they suddenly objected to me using my camera once the railcar shunted back to the station. As a result I repositioned myself further away for one or two more photographs before making my way into the town. From there I took a bus to Jeseník for my next branch line visit.
