The Vitthala temples complex is one of the largest group of temples in Hampi, anchoring Vitthalapura. The complex includes Vitthala temple, Ramanuja temple and four smaller Alvar temples – thus celebrating the Vishnu Vedanta tradition of South India.

The largest temple of this complex is the Vijaya Vitthala temple, also spelled Vittala temple. It is best known for its musical pillars in the maha-mandapa (left side of the floor plan above).

The temple follows the square plan principle of Hindu architecture.
