Title
152 BERK-784A24: Lead Papal Bulla
Description
English: A Medieval lead Papal Bulla with the head Paul, that of Peter is missing. On the reverse side the letters spelling out the name of the Pope: in this case the letters are over three lines and appear to read I[...] / CEN[...] / PP V [...]. This combination of letters suggests the bulla is of one of the popes that took the name 'Innocent'; Pope Innocent V (AD 1276), Innocent VI (AD 1352-1362), Innocent VII (AD 1404-1406) or Innocent VIII (AD 1484-1492). The letters PP stand for 'Pastor Pastorum' or 'Shepherd of Shepherds'. On the reverse only a depiction of St Peter can be seen: St Paul would have been on the left.
