Krauss, of Upper Hanover, Montgom-ery County, Pa. It was brought to Trumbauersvilleby Tobias Reiter, Enois Heist, Jesse Dubbs and ZenoFrantz. The amount paid for it was $650. The moneywas collected by Joseph Reiter. The organ was dedi-cated to the service of the Triune God on March 31and April 1, 1861, being Easter Sunday and EasterMonday. Jacob Bibighiouse was the first organist,and received a salary of $40 per annum for his ser-vices from both congregations. A joint meeting of the two congregations was heldJune 28, 1866, in reference to the erection of a newchurch, to take the place of the one erected in 1805,which, although it had served the congregations for aperiod of sixty-one years, was yet in a good state ofpreservation, but was too small for the large numberof worshippers on Communion Sundays and other spe-cial occasions. On July 28, 1866, it was decided to build the churchsimilar to St. Johns, Richlandtown, with the excep-tion that there is to be only one front door; and the

It was alsodecided at this meeting to begin building operationsas soon as $8,000 was subscribed. The original planwas afterwards changed and improved by a competentarchitect of Allentown. At a meeting held on July 27.1867, after the subscription books were examined andfound that the required amount of $8,000 had beensubscribed, it was decided to make ready during thefall of 1867. so that the building operations could be-gin early in the spring of the year 1868. On January 15. 1868, the contract was awarded toJohn Gerhart, of Telford, Pa., who agreed to erect thechurch according to the plan submitted for the sum of$10,000, the congregations to furnish all the stonesand sand, tear down the old building, clear away allthe rubbish, dig the foundation for the new building,and do all the hauling.
