Christ, December, 1800. He lies buriedin the old portion of Zions cemetery. A large marbleslab with a suitable inscription marks his restingplace. Succeeding Rev. Voigt were the following pastors:Rev. J. F. Weinland, 1800-1804; Rev. Plitt, 1804-1807; Rev. Jasinsky, 1807-1815; Rev. F. W. Geissen-hainer, Jr., D.D., 1817-1827. During his pastorateEnglish services were introduced. Rev. Jacob Wam-pole, 1827-1836. Rev. Frederick Ruthrauff, 1836-1840. This pastorate was a stormy one. It occurredduring the New Measures movement, which soughtto introduce into the Lutheran Church innovationsand practices entirely out of harmony with the spiritof Lutheran doctrine. Rev. Rutiirauff seems to havebeen carried away with the new ideas and consequent-ly brought discord into the church and as a resultdisrupted the parish. OLD ORGAN (Zions, E. Pikeland) NORRISTOWN CONFERENCE 49 pealed to the Ministerium of Pennsylvania for the re-moval or discipline of Rev. Ruthrauff. Shortly afterthe breaking of the storm Rev. RuthraufI resigned thepastorate of the church. With St. Peters and thenewly organized churches of St. Matthews and thatat Lionville, Rev. RuthraufI joined the East Pennsyl-vania Synod. A small number of St. Peters Church,who had no sympathy for Rev. Ruthrauffs ideas, or-ganized the new St. Peters Church of West Pike-land, remained with the Ministerium and united withZions Church to form a parish. Rev. C. F. Welden,1842-1850. Rev. J. Clemens Miller, 1850-1854. Rev.William Weaver, 1855-1864. Shortly after Rev. Wea-ver became the pastor of Zions Church, steps weretaken to increase the influence and dignity of the con-gregation in this vicinity.
