Description

Going south down High Street in Henley-in-Arden on the left side.

I think that this is 6 houses from 149 High Street to 155 High Street. Listed as three individual buildings.

The first one on the left is 149 and 151 High Street. The middle one is 153 High Street (possibly with two homes) and on the right is 155 High Street (again with two homes in it).

Perhaps 153 and 155 are houses with two entrances each?

An interesting looking door handle on 155 High Street. Looks like a hand gripping a wreath with a lions head on the end of it.

149 and 151 High Street is a Grade II listed building.

House, now 2 houses. Late C18 with later alterations. Brick laid to Flemish bond; renewed tile roof with brick coped gables and brick end stack and stack to rear. 2-unit plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; almost symmetrical 2-window range. Top modillioned brick cornice. Entrance to right of centre (No.151) has architrave to 6-fielded-panel door; that to left end is segmental-headed former passageway entrance with C20 door. Ground floor has 2 canted bay windows flanking main entrance, that to left with 2/2:8/8:2/2 sashes, that to right with 1/1:2/2:1/1 sashes; frieze and cornice extends over whole ground floor. First floor has windows with sills, and rubbed brick flat arches over C20 small-paned cross-casement to left and 8/8 horned sash to right. Attic has hipped dormers with 2-light leaded casements, that to left renewed, that to right with iron opening casement. INTERIOR: not inspected.

EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; almost symmetrical 2-window range. Top dentilled brick cornice. Entrance to left of centre has doorcase with pilasters and entablature to late C20 10-panel door; to right end a segmental-headed passage entrance with 6-panel door. Main entrance flanked by 2-storey bow windows with slender pilasters and entablatures to each floor to paired windows, each of 6 tall panes and iron opening panes.
