Description

Taken in November 2012. A new area for photography but well known from walking. The drop down across the park from the North Downs Way is very fine (like some other National Trails, the best views are not always from it) and with this light and colour, a photographic expedition was a must. Apart from the house, the top of the church tower is just visible on the right.

Godmersham Park House was built in 1732, and eventually became the property of Edward Knight, brother of Jane Austen. Her novel Pride and Prejudice is said to depict characters and scenes from the village. The house is currently the home of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians College (no wonder they charge so much for glasses).
