Description
English: OKUNOSHIMA, JAPAN. "C" STORAGE, A REINFORCED CONCRETE CAVERN BUILT INTO THE SIDE OF A HILL AT THE FORMER TOKYO 2ND ARMY ARSENAL. RECESSED IN THE WALLS OF THE CAVERN, FOUR ON EACH SIDE, ARE GAS STORAGE TANKS, EACH WITH A CAPACITY OF 100 TONS. DOORWAY TO ONE OF THE TANKS CAN BEEN IN THE LEFT WALL. NEAR THE CEILING ARE THE PIPES OF THE AIR EXHAUSTER SYSTEM USED FOR REMOVING FUMES FROM THE STORAGE TANKS. OPERATION LEWISITE REMOVED AND DESTROYED POISON GAS (MAINLY MUSTARD AND LEWISITE) FROM THE TOKYO 2ND ARMY ARSENAL).
