Description The forward Mark 45 5-inch gun aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Mason (DDG 87) fires during a live-fire exercise in the Gulf of Oman Dec. 8, 2013. The Mason was part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group and was underway in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts.
