[edit]Description1306 Mayflower on the North Norfolk Railway - geograph.org.uk - 1358560.jpg |
English: 1306 Mayflower on the North Norfolk Railway LNER liveried B1 1306 is in fact a fraud. It is LNER designed but built by the North British locomotive company as 61306 in 1948, Works No. 26207. Though built to an LNER design, she was delivered after nationalisation to British Railways (BR).
Initially, 61306 was allocated to Hull Botanical Gardens Depot (shed code 53B, Kingston upon Hull) until June 1959, when she was transferred to nearby Hull Dairycoates Depot (53A), where she remained until June 1967, when she was transferred to Low Moor Depot (56F, Bradford). She was withdrawn in September 1967. After preservation the engine has travelled many lines including the Great Central and the Nene Valley railway. The coaching stock is the Quad Art set, recently restored GNR designed but LNER built (Doncaster 1924). This is on the first day of "That's yer lot" gala on the railway, remembering the demise of the M&GN 50 years ago. |
