Title
12th century buckle
Description
English: Incomplete 12th century copper alloy gilt oval buckle frame missing its axis bar, pin and part of the frame. It measures 15x24.6mm (internal c.8x15.4mm) and weighs 2.78g.
The frame is D-shaped with a squarish projection at the cente of the outside edge and at top and bottom of the 'D'. The axis bar projects slightly to the side from (where it survives) an ornate pointed terminal. A tiny piece of gilding survives here.
