English: On the day when before 125 years the Military Order of William was instituted by the Netherlands' first King, I, as Your Grand Mistress, feel compelled to address a personal word to all of you knights, bound together by the same oath, who have gathered on this anniversary, both in the Netherlands and in the Netherlands overseas.
During the succession of years following its establishment, the Military Order of William has eminently fulfilled the purpose of its institution: to awaken and cultivate the virtues of war through the reward of those who have distinguished themselves by the performance of outstanding deeds. My full confidence is also placed in the future. Annotations:
Nederlands: Op den dag, waarop vóór 125 jaar de Militaire Willemsorde werd ingesteld door Neerland's eersten Koning, gevoel Ik mij, als Uw Grootmeesterees gedrongen om een persoonlijk woord te richt tot U allen, ridders, saamverbonden door denzelfden eed, die op dezen gedenkdag zijn bijeengekomen, zoowel in Nederland, als in Nederland overzee. Gedurende de reeks van jaren, volgende op hare oprichting, heeft de Militaire Willemsorde uitnemend voldaan aan het doel, met de instelling beoogd: het opwekken en aankweeken van krijgsmansdeugden door de belooning van hen, die zich door het bedrijven van uitstekende daden hebben onderscheiden.
